Hello, I’m Chris Tatrn (rhymes with pattern),

I’m an art director of motion design living in Nashville, TN, working professionally for Design Group Americas based in Atlanta, GA. I am passionate about visual storytelling using a combination of 2D and 3D methods. I studied graphic design at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh graduating with an Associate’s degree, then onto Indiana University of Pennsylvania graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art, majoring in Graphic Design, and more recently, I have completed a number of online motion design classes with School of Motion. I got my start as a 2D designer in Pittsburgh working in an advertising agency on print projects for clients such as Pittsburgh Plate Glass, Iron City, and Daily’s juice. I later moved to Denver, CO and freelanced for a time with the ad agency for Coors Brewing, then accepted a full-time position with a small marketing firm getting to work with clients like LePeep restaurant, the Prostate Cancer Education Council, and many local businesses. I continued my journey to Nashville where my passion for animation began to grow. After an acquisition in 2020, I was given the opportunity to become a full-time motion designer. I completely immersed myself and never looked back. I am continuing to learn and grow, working on a range of animation and video projects, collaborating with a videographer at times, improving my processes and exploring new techniques every day.
